Robert Moses’ Kin with Spark* SF Public Schools Announces For Our Students, For Our Schools

Multiple award-winning San Francisco dance company Robert Moses’ Kin today announced they have turned their efforts toward supporting the San Francisco Unified School District’s students and their families with the premiere of the short dance film, For Our Students, For Our Schools. The 17-minute film, choreographed by Robert Moses, is performed and filmed by the dancers in their shelter-in-place environments in solidarity with SFUSD’s 56,000 students and their families impacted by COVID-19 pandemic. Over the next seven days, with a donation to Spark*, SFUSD’s non-profit 501(c)(3), donors will receive password access to view For Our Students, For Our Schools, which will be released for wider viewing later this year.

The Exceptionally Elderly Overweight Black Man Phoenix (World Premiere)

Robert Moses’ Kin returns to the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Forum with the World Premiere of The Exceptionally Elderly Overweight Black Man Phoenix, June 14-16.  Choreographer Robert Moses’ work has been rendered by the fierce and unique dancers that have defined Robert Moses’ Kin for nearly 25 years.  With this new work Moses reflects on what happens when the viewpoints of an “exceptionally elderly overweight Black man” are re-created  by a multicultural company of young, athletic dance artists.  The evening is a telling and retelling of one artist’s life-time of perspectives through the dancing of his company.  Performances of The Exceptionally Elderly Overweight Black Man Phoenix are Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15 at 8pm and Sunday, June 16 at 2pm.

Draft is an annual performance project conducted by Robert Moses' Kin that launched in 2006. Featuring the solo performances of collaborative artists created with brief encounters with choreographer Robert Moses, the intention of the project is to extract essential movement and the unique individuality of each performer. The resultant works are as different as they are celebrations of the communities in which they are performed.

Robert Moses’ Kin (RMK) announces its 23rd Season, featuring the World Premiere of Bootstrap Tales, a new work choreographed by Artistic Director Robert Moses for three performances only, February 23-25, 2018 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater. Bootstrap Tales is inspired by the Company’s new outreach initiative, The Bootstrap Program, designed to engage San Francisco foster youth in the process of creating a life in the arts and will feature musicians whose primary performance venues are the streets of San Francisco.
