Book Robert Moses’ Kin at your University or School Today!

Robert Moses is available to present an Artist Talk or Lecture-Demonstration at your university or school. Drawing from his 25+ years of experience leading his nationally-recognized company Robert Moses’ Kin, Robert will share how dance remains resilient and responds to ever-evolving environments and challenges.

Artist Talks with Robert can include screenings and discussions of recent and archival work from the RMK repertory. Much of the work focuses on Black lives, social justice, and the transformative power of art in our lives (preview repertory HERE). By hearing Robert speak in-depth about the process of putting a piece together and preparing to present it, students will gain crucial insight into how professional companies and artists work.

Option 1: Artist Talk

Duration: 60 minutes

In this lecture, Robert gives a 30-minute overview of the 25-year history of Robert Moses’ Kin Dance Company with a focus on how COVID-19 has shifted his working model. He then engages with participants in an open-ended 30-minute Q&A session. This program does not include a master class or in-depth discussion of works from the repertory.

Option 2: Artist Talk and Repertory Screening/Discussion

Duration: 60 minutes

In this expanded lecture, Robert covers the history of Robert Moses’ Kin and also screens and discusses “Short Stories," a selection of solos and duets that focus on Black lives, social justice, and the transformative power of art in our lives compiled specifically with the disruptions of 2020 in mind. He focuses on the process of gathering old work and preparing to present it in a new context.

Option 3: Master Class

Duration: 60-90 minutes

A one-hour master class co-taught by Robert and an RMK company dancer over Zoom. The class incorporates excerpts from RMK rep.

Option 4: Artist Talk and Repertory Screening/Discussion with Master Class

Option 5: Artist Talk and Repertory Screening/Discussion with Live Demonstration

This virtual program is equivalent to an open rehearsal or a lecture-demonstration.

Option 6: Virtual or In-Person Commission

Duration: several days

Robert will work with students to create a new work or stage a work from the RMK repertory. This can be done either entirely virtually or as in-person intensive depending on current university health and travel guidelines.
